TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa police have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.

Tuscaloosa Police Juvenile Investigators were notified Oct. 4 that the suspect was allegedly abusing a 12-year-old female victim.

Investigators say the girl came forward and told her school counselor she had been sexually abused three times by the same man since this spring.

Officials found the suspect, a man named Salomon Rivero Hernandez, 31, and took him in for questioning on Thursday.

Sgt. Brent Blankley with TPD says after interviewing Hernandez, police had probably cause to arrest him and charge him with three counts of first degree sexual abuse. Police arrested him around 12:30 p.m. Oct. 4.

Authorities say the abuse allegedly happened at Hernandez's home.

Hernandez is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $45,000 bond. Police are also trying to find out if he is in the country legally.
