BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Authorities have identified a Gadsden man, who was killed Saturday when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Glencoe.

Terry Stanfield, whose Facebook profile identifies him as a retired Goodyear worker, was pronounced dead on the scene Saturday by the Etowah County Coroner's Office. Coroner Michael Gladden identified Stanfied Sunday to Fox6. Authorities say his wife, Teresa, was airlifted to UAB.

Police say the wreck occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday when the two vehicles collided on a strip of road that connects Highway 431 to Main Street, next to Mr. G's Texaco. The vehicle ended up on its side and the Stanfields were through several feet away. No one was known to be injured in the Honda Passport SUV, but the vehicle suffered damage to its front end and passenger side panels.

Police haven't said if the two were wearing helmets, but Terry Stanfield was wearing leather.
