A 22-year-old man is behind bars and faces domestic violence charges for allegedly assaulting his mother and her husband this morning.
Deputies responded to a home in the 8200 block of Vine's Place of Concord on a report of domestic violence around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Once at the scene, deputies found a woman and her husband bleeding from head wounds. The female victim said her son had called, asked to come to her home, and became angry when she told him no. The son showed up anyway and attempted to come inside.
The woman told deputies her husband stopped him from coming in, then her son started to hit her husband. When the mother tried to intervene, her son allegedly hit her in the head with a board that had nails in it, Chief Deputy Randy Christian with the sheriff's office said. The son is also accused of hitting his mother's husband in the head with a metal candle holder.
The suspect fled from the home before deputies arrived to the scene. He then returned while the deputies were still at the home investigating. The suspect told deputies his stepfather had started the fight and he was only acting in defense, Christian said. He was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Christian says formal domestic violence charges are pending.
Both victims in the case were treated by paramedics at the scene and said they would take themselves to the hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, Christian stated.
