CALHOUN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
A reward is being offered in the case of a missing ATM in Calhoun County.
Anniston police say someone stole a reddish-orange "lull" forklift from a business in Alexandria, then used the forklift to steal an ATM with thousands of dollars in it from a Regions Bank branch in Saks. Police believe the suspects may have also stolen an extended cab pickup truck from a Saks business.
Officials say the two vehicles pulled into the Regions Bank parking lot from Highway 431 at around 4:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. The suspects then used the forklift the break the ATM away from the base and put it into the pickup truck. The suspects fled in the pickup truck and went north on Highway 431.
Regions Bank security is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
Today, police also released new information and pictures shot by a camera at a neighboring business, which show a truck and the forklift in question on the Sunday morning that the theft occurred.
Police now believe that the suspect operating the forklift ran into the woods behind the bank as he abandoned the forklift.
