PICKENS COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Gordo police are investigating the shooting deaths of a couple in their 60's as a murder-suicide, the Pickens County District Attorney confirms. Neighbors and investigators alike are calling this case a tragedy.

Police say Randy Cargile and his wife Joyce Cargile died as the result of gunshot wounds. They were found deceased inside their home on Reform-Gordo Road around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. A concerned family member who hadn't heard from the couple went to the couple's home and found their bodies inside. Randy was 60 years old and Joyce was 62 years old at the time of their deaths.

Officials say they believe Randy Cargile's wound was self-inflicted. The details of what happened leading up to the couple's deaths are not yet known.

Neighbors say their deaths are a tremendous loss to Gordo's community. The couple leaves behind a son and daughter who also live in West Alabama.

Police do not yet have a motive in the case.
