Robbery and deadly crash suspect to go before judge

At least one robbery suspect accused in a deadly crash that killed a family of three is expected to appear before a judge today.

18-year-old Jeffery Howe faces three counts of felony murder. 20-year-old Dominique Smith is also charged in the case, but his court appearance is not known at this time.

Police say the suspects were in an SUV that slammed into a car in Birmingham earlier this month. A ten-month-old baby and her parents in that car died at the scene.

Police say the suspects allegedly robbed and pistol whipped an elderly man in Cordova and were trying to run from police when the crash happened.
