Man killed in wreck with dump truck bed on I-459

A 64-year-old man was killed Thursday morning after his car hit a dump truck bed that was in the interstate.

State troopers identified the victim as Richard L. Morgan of Center Point. He was driving a 2009 Ford Focus on the entrance ramp to I-459 South near Derby Parkway when his car hit the dump truck bed. Authorities say he was not wearing his seat belt.

"The bed was from a tri-axle dump truck that struck the overpass causing the bed to break away from the truck," Sgt. Steve Jarrett with the Alabama Department of Public Safety said in a release.

The wreck is still under investigation.
