The National Weather Service says a small tornado touched down in Bessemer on Monday. Officials with the NWS found that damage in rural southern Jefferson County was the result of an EF-0 tornado.
The tornado touched down west of the Bessemer Airport and east of Paradise Lane and County Road 6. It moved east-northeast and snapped a few trees.
The NWS says dual polarization data was a major factor in determining the cause of the damage.
