BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
Alabama head coach Nick Saban says he is proud of the way his football team played in their game against Tennessee on Saturday. The Crimson Tide overwhelmed the Volunteers 44-13 at Neyland Stadium.
"I was really proud of the way our players competed in the game," said Saban in his post game news conference. "This is a tough place to come and play."
Saban remarked that Tennessee was a tough team and the game was hard fought. He says his team kept "grinding and grinding" and was relentless in the competition. The coach says his team does have things to work on, but he mostly had praise for his players, especially the offense.
Coach Saban also went on to note that the win is a big win and part of a big rivalry. He said that he thinks his former assistant coach, current Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley, is doing a good job at the post.
"I think Derek is doing a fantastic job," said Saban. "They have been better and better every year we have played them."
Alabama returns home next week to take on Mississippi State. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
