Grocery Store Thanksgiving - One week before Thanksgiving, we're turning our studio into a grocery store to give viewers all the tips they'll need to shop for their holiday meal. JEH JEH LIVE - Jeh Jeh joined us from the 12th Annual City of Birmingham Recycles Day. It is today from 6am until 2pm at Linn Park on Short 20th Street. The City of Birmingham Recycles Day Committee hosts the event to allow citizens to recycle Electronic Waste and Yellow Pages. Envionmental groups will be onsite to share information about the environmental and recycling. At the event they will accept Yellow Pages, Personal Computers, Televisions, Monitors, LCD TVs, Flat Screen Monitors, VCRs, Radios, Stereos, DVD Players, Microwaves, Power Supplies, Rechargeable Batteries, Vacuums, Banking Equipment, Telephones, Pagers, Networking Equipment, Laptops, Keyboards, Mice, Cables, Non-hazardous Medical Equipment, Printers, Copy Machines, Servers, Hubs, Ink and Toner Cartridges, Remotes, Modems, Projectors, and Cameras. It will not accept refrigerators, washers, clothes dryers, dish washers, mercury containing devices (thermometers, fire alarms), hazardous chemicals/materials, light bulbs, florescent bulbs, and bio waste. There will be a drive-thru set up for you to pull through and drop off your e-waste, Yellow Pages telephone books, and cellular telephones.
GARDENING - Learn all about bats at Aldridge Gardens in the next week! Learn about the "Hidden World of Bats" tomorrow from 6-7:30pm. Found in virtually every part of the world except the Polar Regions, bats are the only mammals capable of true flight. Participants in this class will learn many qualities and adaptations of these fascinating animals. On Friday, check out the second annual Horror in the Gardens from 7-10pm. It is a costumed Halloween party for those 21 and up located at the Aldridge Gardens Pavilion. There will be live entertainment provide by local musicians, food vendors with delicious samples of your favorite local foods, many door prizes and a costume contest. Tickets are $30. And next Tuesday you can "Build Your Own Bat House!" from 6:30-7:30pm. This one hour workshop is a fun and educational family project that will also benefit the environment! With the proper habitat and a correctly built bat house, your family may be graced with a bat colony moving into your landscape. Tomorrow on Good Day Alabama, Mike Dubberly and Jeh Jeh Pruitt try their best to learn about some of the big leaders at the Magic City Classic! They teamed up with the Alabama State and the Alabama A&M Drum Majors to learn a few tricks and some new moves! You must tune in to see how that turns out! Jeh Jeh also takes us to the McWane Science Center to check out the new exhibit with Clifford the Big Red Dog! Gus Mayer brings some of fall's hottest fashions to the studio!
