The Birmingham Police Department says they have taken a suspect into custody in connection to a bank robbery.
Officers say the PNC Bank at 1927 1st Avenue North was robbed when a man walked in and demanded cash. When officers arrived on scene, they say a citizen and a security guard had detained the suspect on the sidewalk just outside of the bank.
Officers were able to recover cash taken from the bank.
The identity of the suspect will not been released until investigators file warrants. The suspect is currently being held at the Birmingham City Jail.
The same PNC Bank location was robbed in September. The case was memorable not only because of the crime but because the suspect used a U-Haul truck as a getaway vehicle.
