JACKSONVILLE, AL (WBRC) -
Even the smallest of crimes can lead to some big time embarrassment in one east Alabama community.
Jacksonville police have posted on Facebook the mug shots of two women charged with misdemeanors. One of them is literally accused of stealing toilet paper.
One of the ladies was in court appearing on an unrelated charge and the other was accompanying her.
"The two ladies were in there acting intoxicated, laughing, talking, becoming a nuisance in the court," said Jacksonville Police Chief T.L. Thompson.
However, the real drama started when police say the two women returned from a trip to the restroom.
"So officers followed them out of the building, and discovered that they had pretty well cleaned out the paper products and some of the cleaning stuff from the ladies bathroom," said Thompson.
Police say everything right down to the toilet paper was missing. The two women, Christina Barksdale and Andrea DeCarlo were arrested and charged with public intoxication. Barksdale is also facing a charge of theft from a public building.
