The Georgia Bulldogs quickly pulled ahead of the Auburn Tigers in their game at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday for a shutout.
After stopping Auburn on their first possession, the Bulldog offense scored on a 6-play drive across 76 yards. Georgia's Todd Gurley rushed the ball 49 yards to the Auburn 22 early into the drive. Four plays later, QB Aaron Murray passed to Chris Conley for 6 yards for the touchdown at 10:51 in the 1st quarter.
Georgia returned to the endzone in the 1st on their following drive. In 9-plays, the Bulldogs covered 80 yards for the score. During the drive, Murray completed 4 passes for 41 yards, including the scoring play in a pass to Malcolm Mitchell for 5 yards at 1:19. Marshall Morgan's extra point put the Bulldogs up by two touchdowns.
In the second quarter, Georgia continued scoring at their same pace. Another 9-play drive saw the Bulldogs to endzone across 64 yards in 3:40 of game time. Georgia moved down the field steadily and capped the drive off with a 17-yard Murray pass to Tevarres King at the 10:27 mark. Morgan's kick was again good.
The Bulldogs added one more touchdown before going into halftime. A powerful 5-play drive covered 90 yards for another score. Tevarres King held the big play for Georgia with a 55-yard pass reception. Todd Gurley gained the touchdown with a 6-yard rush at the 5:09 mark. Morgan's kick set the score at 28-0 at the half.
Georgia was held to a field goal by the Auburn defense upon resuming play. A long 15-play drive saw the Bulldogs cover 73 yards, but they were held at 4th and goal at the Auburn 2 yard line. Marshall Morgan's 20-yard kick was good and brought the score to 31-0.
Georgia's first touchdown of the 2nd half came at the 4:34 mark in the 3rd. Bulldog Keith Marshall broke past the Tiger defense for a 62-yard rushing touchdown. Morgan's kick set the score to 38.
The 4th quarter went scoreless as the Bulldogs and Tigers held a tug-of-war on the field. The game finished with Georgia winning 38-0.
Auburn goes on to play Alabama A&M at Jordan-Hare. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
