SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Two Shelby County communities are rallying behind a family caring for a sick child.

Seven-month-old Halle Scott has never been home after a premature birth. Her lungs were not fully developed and she fights each day for her life.

"She was just one pound nine ounces," her mother Amy Windham said. "Very small and there were times they told us, I asked what are we looking at when we come home? They said, 'I don't know if she will live.'"

The community learned of Halle through the Facebook page, Praying for Amy and Precious Baby. Halle remains on a ventilator unable to breathe on her home. She is now at Children's Hospital. Halle's parents and sisters are there for her and the Alabaster and Pelham are doing what they can to help.

The Sonic in Pelham has words of support on their marquee for the Windhams and employees will wear t-shirts for support. Alabaster Parks & Recreation has helped promote Halle Scott bracelets and several businesses are selling them:

-Ladybug Lane, 10496 Highway 119, Alabaster 35007

-Celebrity Video & Tan, 7895 Highway 119, Suite 1, Alabaster 35007

-The UPS Store, 3584 Highway 31 South, Pelham 35124

In addition the Dairy Queen in Alabaster at the Promenade will donate a portion of their sales to the family next Monday, Nov. 19 from 5-8 p.m.

"You never see the good side of people. It's sad it has to come to this to see their kindess. They don't know us but they are reaching out," Amy said.

It's been an emotional toll on the family. Jeffrey Windham runs a landscaping company while trying to take care of his other two daughters, freeing up Amy's time to take care of Halle. The Windhams says their faith in God has helped pull them through.

"Whether God is telling, 'Y'all are going to be ok if something happens or if [Halle] is going to give testimony one day, share what I've done for them." He has truly blessed us," Amy said.
