Gas main rupture capped, Highway 78 in Leeds reopens

LEEDS, AL (WBRC) -

UPDATE: The gas main has been capped. Police have now reopened Highway 78.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Leeds Police Department says they have closed down a large section of Highway 78 after a gas main ruptured.

The rupture is located in front of the police station where the fire station is being build. Officers says construction work ruptured the gas main.

There is no word on when the road will reopen.
