CALERA, AL (WBRC) - A man working at the Argos Cement Plant in Calera was injured on the job Thursday. According to the Mine Safety and Health Administration the victim is a contractor employee with G&R.
He was working on a preheater fan in the kiln area. Officials say power was removed from the fan and it was blocked from movement. During the repair another fan ventilating the same area was increased to reduce the dust in the kiln area which caused the fan without power to begin rotating, pinning the worker.
The injured miner had surgery on his left arm and he has three broken ribs.MSHA inspectors are investigating the incident.
