Lovoy's will hold its last dinner service Saturday, Nov. 17. Source: WBRC videoA Birmingham fixture in Italian food comes to an end. After 58 years Lovoy's will be closing its doors tomorrow night.
Lovoy's restaurant was started in downtown Birmingham by Frank and Juliette Lovoy back in 1954. Later the family moved it to a Green Springs Highway location before moving to SoHo in 2010.
Zac Lovoy bought it from the family eight years ago and at the age of 35 Lovoy is ready to try something new.
"Really I looked inward and said this has been a good run. It's been great for my family. Birmingham has been great to us, to me. But, I really want to see what I can go out and do," Lovoy said.
Lovoy says dinner tomorrow night will be the last time the doors will open for patrons. The restaurant is taking reservations and will serve food until it runs out. If you'd like to dine one more time at Lovoy's call them at 205-870-9811.
