Auburn beats Alabama A&M, 51-7

The Auburn Tigers got their third win of the season on Saturday as they faced the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.

On their first possession, the Tigers immediately pushed down the field in a 10-play drive to cover 66 yards for a touchdown. The score was made by Tre Mason in a 19-yard rush. Cody Parkey tacked on the extra point.

Onterio McCalebb took the next touchdown for the Tigers. To cap off a 7-play drive across 60 yards, McCalebb rushed 19 yards at the 4:31 mark in the 1st.

After forcing the Bulldogs to punt, the Tigers didn't waste any time on driving down the field. On the first play of the possession, Tre Mason launched down the field with an amazing 86 yard rush for a touchdown. Parkey's extra point set the score at 21 with a little over 3 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter.

In the second quarter, Tiger Jay Prosch found a chance to score after 7-play drive over 91 yards. Prosch scored the touchdown with a 3-yard rush, but the big play of the drive belonged to DeAngelo Benton, who carried a Johnathan Wallace pass 51-yards. The Parkey kick was good and brought the score to 28-0.

Auburn scored one more time before halftime. With 23 seconds remaining in the half, Johnathan Wallace connected to Sammie Coates for a 9-yard touchdown pass. This finished up a 10-play drive over 72 yards and sent the teams to the locker room with a score of 35-0.

Alabama A&M got on the board after halftime. The Bulldogs pushed down the field in a 6-play drive across 50 yards for the touchdown. Deaunte Mason got the score with a quarterback sneak for a single yard at the 10:34 mark. Chance Wilson kicked the extra point.

Auburn got back to scoring at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Onterio McCalebb finished up an 11-play drive with a 14-yard rush up the middle to score with 14:10 remaining in the game. Cody Parkey's extra point set the score at 42-7.

The Tigers added a safety to their score as the game neared its end. Bulldog Brendan Johnson's rush up the middle came at a loss of 3 yards after a tackle by LaDarius Owens, putting him down inside the A&M endzone for the safety.

The final touchdown of the game belong to the Tiger defense. With 2:38 remaining in the game, Trent Fisher intercepted a pass from Deaunte Mason and ran it back 60 yards for the touchdown. The wrapped up the scoring for a strong Auburn win.

Next week, Auburn heads to Tuscaloosa to play Alabama in the Iron Bowl. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
