TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Authorities have charged a man with murder and assault in connection to a crash that killed one person and sent five to the hospital.

Stephen "Rusty" Allen was arrested in the case and has bonded out of jail. He faces one murder and four assault charges.

Witnesses say that just before the collision, Allen was speeding and driving in the wrong direction near Jack Warner Parkway and Helen Keller Boulevard Friday night around 9:30 p.m. Authorities say that Allen then struck a truck.

Anthony Naylor was in that truck. He died at DCH Regional Medical Center. Naylor's family was in town for the Alabama/Western Carolina football game.

"It looks like the victim was hit from behind, the suspect going at a high rate of speed, causing their vehicle to possibly flip," Capt. Loyd Baker with the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit said.

Authorities are waiting on results from a blood alcohol test given to Allen following the crash.
