Governor Robert Bentley is accused of being a flip- flopper, by some of his opponents.
The governor has been vocal about his opposition to health care exchanges, even calling them unconstitutional. That is not what he said two years ago apparently.
Democrats are citing a newspaper article from 2010 where Bentley said the best route for Alabama was its own healthcare exchange.
"When I began to talk about exchanges, that was a free market place exchange like Utah has at the current time, and they've had for six years. For a governor who rails about federal influence in our daily lives, it just means the federal government is going to set one up for us," said Mark Kennedy with the Alabama Democratic Party.
In the article in question, the governor does not say anything about a free market exchange.
