TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

During his post Iron Bowl news conference, Gene Chizik would not discuss the situation concerning whether or not he will return next year as the head coach of the Auburn Tigers.

After Saturday's overwhelming loss to Alabama, 49-0, Auburn wraps up their season with a 3-9 record and has them winless against SEC opponents. This comes just two years after Auburn went undefeated in their 2010 season and won the BCS National Championship.

The rough season has led to much speculation as to Chizik being fired from the head coach position. Chizik would not comment on any aspect of his job status.

"I'm not going to go into all of the job situation with any questions. It's not about me," said Chizik. "… I'm not going to entertain any of those questions."

The coach says that there was a very poor performance by the Tigers in the Iron Bowl.

"Obviously, that was a very disappointing, embarassing loss to our instate rivals. It was a sad performance that Auburn fans and alumni didn't deserve," said Chizik.

As for the season, Chizik says the team never got any momentum. He says that there were chances to gain momentum that never panned out.

"This year was just a sitation where we could never gain any momentum. We had close games at the beginning of the year and just couldn't gain any momentum…" said Chizik. "… I think it just spiraled down and we couldn't get out of the rut. "
