Alabama State Troopers investigated a total of six traffic deaths, including one motorcyclist, during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period from 6pm Wednesday, Nov. 21, through midnight Sunday, Nov. 25.
These six fatalities occurred in Baldwin, Chilton, Conecuh, Etowah, Limestone and Mobile counties.
Seat belts were available for five of the six individuals killed, according to troopers, and three were not using them.
Based on preliminary investigations, troopers say alcohol was not a factor in any of the deadly crashes.
During this same holiday travel period in 2011, troopers investigated six of the state's nine traffic deaths.
State totals for this year's extended holiday travel period will not be available until later in the year.
