Source: mgnonline.comHoover police are investigating a traffic accident that ultimately ended in the death of one driver.
Captain Jim Coker says that the accident happened Saturday, Nov. 24 on Highway 150 near Publix between 7:30 and 8 p.m. when one vehicle t-boned the other.
The driver and passenger in the first vehicle were taken immediately to UAB for treatment. The other driver, John Ballinger, Jr., 68, was taken by a family member to St. Vincent's, where it was determined that he should seek further treatment at UAB. Ballinger later passed away at UAB.
Coker says that the investigation into this accident may take several months as they gather evidence from the victim's autopsy, toxicology reports and an accident reconstruction.
Coker said that due to the nature of the investigation, the department will very likely present their evidence to the District Attorney in the Bessemer Cut-Off Division to determine what charges, if any, could be filed against the other driver.
