Boom felt, heard near Redstone Arsenal

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A planned demolition could likely be heard and felt Friday near Redstone Arsenal.

Crews at Marshall Space Flight Center brought down Test Stand 4696 around 1 p.m., lasting about an hour.

Test stand 4696 had been inactive since 1969. It was used to fire single F-1 engines.

Crews had to use explosives to take down the stand's concrete towers.
