BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Authorities say a fire broke out at West End Academy in southwest Birmingham just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The school was in the gym for an assembly when a motor in the score board malfunctioned and started smoking. Students were evacuated from the scene. No injuries have been reported.
