BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police have released the identity of a man killed in a shooting in Ensley on Thursday.

Police say Emanuel Brock, 39, of Birmingham died as a result of the shooting, which happened in the 4700 block of Terrace Q and 48th Street in the Central Park community of Ensley. Witnesses said two men fired shots after an argument.

Birmingham fire and rescue crews were in the process of transporting Brock to UAB Hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds when West Precinct officers arrived to the scene. Brock was pronounced dead at the hospital at 4:42 p.m., according to Captain Henry Irby with Birmingham Police.

While investigating at the scene, a Birmingham police officer noticed a gray utility vehicle was driving erratically in the 2400 block of Bessemer Road. The officer pulled over the vehicle on 3rd Avenue West and discovered that the driver was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue workers took the wounded suspect, a 41-year-old man, to UAB Hospital for treatment. Captain Irby says he is being guarded by police. His condition is unknown.

Police say there are no arrests or charges filed in this case so far. They believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that they have identified everyone involved, Irby stated.

The case remains under investigation.
