Shelby Co. Sheriff identifies pedestrian hit and killed on Hwy 2

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed along Highway 25 Friday evening. They have also reopened the roadway.

Deputies say that Carolyn A. Dawson, 52 of Columbiana, died at the scene of her injuries

Authorities received a call about a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle around 5:30 p.m Friday. They closed the highway in both directions from Shelby County Highway 97 to Columbiana city limits during their investigation.

They also say that the vehicle involved in the accident is accounted for and the driver is cooperating with the investigation. The Alabama Department of Public Safety is assisting with the case and the investigation is ongoing.
