State Troopers report 19-year-old James Michael Phillips III and 16-year-old Brittany Lynn Bonner were traveling in a 1996 Chevrolet pickup one mile south of Oxford when the accident occured.
The accident scene involved two pickup trucks that each crashed into a tree on McIntosh Road in Talladega County, just inside the county line.
Monday, ribbons were tied around two of the trees and an artificial Christmas tree marked the spot where the bodies of the two dead teenagers were found.
Bonner was enrolled at Oxford High School and Phillips graduated last year. Another Oxford High School alum was in the other truck involved. He was airlifted to UAB.
Roy Bennett with the Oxford City School System said the school put its emergency counseling plan into place to help students get through their first day at school since Saturday's accident.
State Troopers are investigating the cause of the accident.
