Birmingham police have charged two people with the murder of a man who was attempting to rob someone with them when he was killed.
Ryan Michael Jordan, 19, was fatally shot by the person he and two others were trying to rob on Sunday night. The incident happened around 11:05 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 3300 block of Avenue H in Ensley.
"During the course of the armed robbery, the intended robbery victim was forced to shoot the victim that was also involved in planning and executing the robbery," Sgt. Johnny Williams said.
The robbery victim who shot Jordan surrendered to police shortly after the shooting. The District Attorney's Office says the shooter's actions will be ruled justifiable "due to the fact the victim was attempting to rob the person that shot him," Williams said.
The two suspects who were trying commit robbery with Jordan have been charged with murder in Jordan's death.
They are identified as Cherrelle Mitchelle, 18, of Birmingham and Erick Densmore, 19, of Fairfield. Both suspects are being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $60,000 bond each.
