Editorial: Drinking and driving

The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Tuesday, December 11, 2012:

If you're a sports fan you've probably heard about two professional football players out for the evening. They were involved in a one vehicle auto accident in which the vehicle struck a curb and flipped… the passenger was killed. The driver was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter.

Terrible, right? Well, before we become hypocritical, it's important to remember it can happen to anyone who decides to drink and drive. And it is holiday party season…if you're consuming alcohol, be reasonable.

You may say…This would not happen to me. I know when I've had too much to drink. It's my decision whether I get behind the wheel. But, it's not just about you…others are impacted when you decide to drink and drive.
