Irondale Police will also use this home for tactical training later in December. Source: WBRC videoIrondale Police are on the scene of a mock homicide to train their six evidence technicians.
Some of the officers have 40 years of experience, but some of the guys are younger and less experienced.
In the fake crime scene, two suspects break into a home. In the midst of a struggle, the homeowner and one of the suspects die and the other suspect gets away.
While Irondale hasn't had a real homicide this year, they know the exercise will give the new officers hands-on experience in collecting evidence.
The home used in today's exercise is set to be demolished in January. The homeowner is letting them use it until then.
Irondale Police will also use it for tactical training later this month.
