This morning's Tuscaloosa County commission meeting ended with a wedding.
Commission chairman Hardy McCollum, who is also the probate judge, officiated the ceremony in the county courthouse.
Henry Pate and Paula Droughty say 12 is a lucky number for them. The couple has been together for six years.
They said they wanted to take advantage of the uniqueness of getting married on 12th day of the 12th month of 2012.
"At our age that's all we need. We're going to be together and we ain't going nowhere and everything is going to be fine," Pate said.
Courthouses in other parts of Alabama, including Jefferson County, saw an increase in couples wanting to get married due to the uniqueness of today's date.
