East Alabama authorities say that one suspect is dead after allegedly shooting four people, including an officer, and leading authorities on a two-county vehicle chase.
Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown identifies the suspect as 33-year-old Romero Roberto Moya. Moya was from Heflin. And according to a Calhoun Co official Facebook page, he was "deceased on the scene."
Authorities say that three people were shot and killed at a trailer park in Cleburne County by the suspect. They also say that the officer shot has come out of surgery and is listed in critical condition.
This situation began when Heflin officers responded to a domestic violence call at a trailer park in Cleburne County. They discovered three gunshot wound victims at the scene.
Soon after receiving a description of the suspect, Heflin police gave chase and followed the suspect to Oxford where the suspect was involved in a car accident near Leon Smith Parkway at the cloverleaf. At this point, authorities say the suspect shot a Heflin officer.
The suspect then carjacked a vehicle and left the scene. The vehicle was then spotted near Highway 202 and local authorities joined the chase. At Beck Road and Highway 78, authorities say that the suspect hit another vehicle.
When Moya exited the vehicle at Beck Road and Highway 78, the Oxford Special Response Team shot and killed him.
