A student's parent called the school this morning to say an ex-boyfriend made a veiled reference to something happening at Phillips Academy, Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said.
The threat was not direct, but more of an implication, Williams said. The woman contacted the school, and school officials called police.
Police swept the school and did not find any threat. Classes are continuing as normal. A Birmingham Police officer was already at the school, since Birmingham schools have increased police presence in the wake of the Connecticut shooting.
Several parents showed up to the school to make sure their children were OK. The school is a K-8 Birmingham City School located on 7th Avenue North.
