Phenix City man in wheelchair hit by car

One Phenix City man is recovering after being hit by a car.

Robert Thompson was in a wheelchair when he rolled in front of a moving car on south Lumpkin Road on Friday. Police say the driver hit the brakes but could not avoid the crash.

Thompson was thrown into the left lane of the highway. He was taken to a Medical Center to be treated.

There is no word yet on his condition, and the driver of the car was not injured.
