(video source WBRC)Two people were hurt Friday night in a crash on I-65 involving an 18-wheeler tanker and another vehicle.
The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on I-65 near the 3rd Avenue South exit.
C.W. Mardis from Birmingham Fire and Resuce said the tanker truck was transporting 85,000 gallons of gasoline. He said Hazmat is on the scene laying down foam and absorbent material to keep the gas from igniting.
As of 7:30 a.m. Saturday, only one of the northbound lanes of I-65 were open. The southbound lanes opened earlier in the morning.
A man driving the tanker truck and a female driving the other vehicle were transported to U.A.B Hospital.
