Sunday morning homicide in Birmingham under investigation

Birmingham Police are investigating the death of a young man found dead in the 600 block of 27th street at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Sergeant Johnny Williams identified the victim as 29-year-old Nathaniel Oaks Jr. of Birmingham.

Birmingham Firefighters were called to 608 27th Street Southwest where they found Oaks lying inside the house. Detectives say there is enough evidence to classify this as a homicide.

No suspects are in custody at this hour.
