HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -

Hoover's police chief and the owner of Martini's Ultra Lounge will decide if the nightclub will stay open after a deadly shooting on Friday. Two people were killed and one person is in custody.

Phillip Terral Player is charged with capital murder and attempted murder in the incident off Lorna Road. The victims are identified as 19-year-old Monterio Peebles-Kellogg and 20-year-old Lakenya Chaniese Moton. Police have not said how the suspect got a gun in the building, but they did say the club has internal security and Hoover police patrol the parking lot.

This shooting has some questioning if the club will remain open. The Hoover City Council has not commented, but one business owner in that area hopes the club can find a way to stay open.

"Normally after a club shooting, it destroys the business," said Ahmad Kennedy, who owns a business in Hoover. "I don't want to see anyone's business close. (The) only thing is maybe tighten up security, metal detectors something."

Police say these cases have been the first homicides in Hoover in the past two and a half years.
