BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

While celebrating Christmas this year, you might was to stay weather aware. The FOX6 StormWarn team is expecting strong storms to move through Central Alabama on Tuesday and there is a possibility of tornadoes.

The Storm Prediction Center says their moderate severe weather risk area now includes southern Tuscaloosa, southern Bibb, southern Pickens, Perry, Greene, Hale, Dallas and Sumter counties. The entire FOX6 viewing area falls under the slight risk category for severe weather tomorrow. 

The greater threat is expected to be to the southwest. Tornadoes and straight line winds could cause severe damage.

The strongest storms are expected to hit the area sometime after 5 p.m. Those in our viewing area are encouraged to get to where they can stay informed of the weather around 2 p.m. If you have Christmas guests, be sure to have a plan for everyone to be safe in case of dangerous weather.
