Hours after thunderstorms and strong winds impacted the state Christmas night, snow flurries were spotted in several parts of central Alabama Wednesday morning.
Starting around 7 a.m., snow was reported in the greater Birmingham area, including Homewood, Hoover, Mountain Brook, and Bluff Park. Viewers in areas as far north as Hackleburg, Oneonta and Hayden, and as far south as Clanton, Pelham and Bessemer also reported seeing the flurries.
Fox 6 Meteorologist Mickey Ferguson says we'll see more clouds and a small amount of frozen precipitation move through our area today. A wind advisory is in effect for most of the Fox 6 viewing area until 6 p.m., and the wind chill is making it feel much colder. The current wind chill has the temperature in Birmingham at 28 degrees.
Mickey says the temperatures should warm up into the 40s later today with lows in the 20s Wednesday night.
We'll have updates on today's weather on Good Day Alabama until 9 a.m. You can also check out the lastest weather forecast information on www.myfoxal.com/weather.
