The Governor's Office is offering a $5,000 reward for information in an 8-month-old murder case that has grown cold.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is hoping the reward will give investigators new leads in the murder of Mathew Joshua Hale, a 28-year-old man from Center Point.
"Currently all leads in the case have gone cold," Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.
Hale's body was discovered on the side of Sharon Church Road north of Pinson just after midnight on April 16. Callers reported seeing his body on the roadside, and when first responders got to the scene, they found he had been shot to death.
Anyone with information about Hale's death is asked to all the call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 205-325-1450 or Crimestoppers at 205-254-7777.
The $5,000 reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Hale's murder.
