Police chase ends in double fatal crash in Pickens Co.

Two people trying to flee from police were killed in a head-on collision with another car, state troopers report.

Carrollton police officers were attempting to pull over a car around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver sped away. A police chase ensued, then ended when the fleeing car crashed into another vehicle on Highway 17.

The driver and a passenger in the fleeing car were killed in the wreck. Another passenger inside the fleeing vehicle, and a passenger in the car that was hit, were taken to Pickens County Medical Center for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

State troopers are continuing to investigate the accident.
