BPD Sgt. Johnny Williams says the officer was helping the security at the club clear out the parking lot when a vehicle "bumped" the officer's leg.
Williams said the incident left the officer with a few bumps and bruises, but his leg was not broken. The officer was taken to UAB Highlands for treatment and released.
Police say the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was taken into custody for questioning. Officials say he has been cooperative. His car was towed away from the parking lot, and the police department will cover the towing expense if the driver is not charged.
