Banners are going up across the city of Birmingham to mark the year long commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement in 1963.
The first banner was hung on the back of Boutwell Auditorium. That is where Nat King Cole was attacked by segregationists during a concert in the 1960's.
City officials say to look for the banners in unexpected places and in unexpected forms.
