The Etowah County Sheriff's Department says they have charged a man with multiple theft offenses.
46-year-old Johnathan Wayne Holcomb faces two counts of first degree theft of property, one count of second degree theft of property and three counts of third degree burglary, according to the Sheriff's Office. All charges are felonies.
Deputies say they received a call about a suspicious vehicle at a residence on Whitesboro Road on Saturday December 22. Sardis Police Chief James Harp responded to the residence and found a window broken out of the house. Harp contacted the Etowah County Sheriff's Office after locating the vehicle at a residence on Happy Harp Road in Boaz.
Harp was met by Captain Shane Hartley of the Etowah County Sheriff's Office and the found that the vehicle was hooked to a utility trailer filled with miscellaneous property. The owner of the residence and vehicle was identified as Holcomb, who claimed that the property belonged to him. The owner of the Whitesboro Road residence identified items in the utility trailer and in Holcomb's yard as taken from her home.
The next day, investigators say they found that Holcomb had stolen items from another home on Whitesboro Road. The owner was able to positively identify his belongings. All property was returned to the victims.
Holcomb was being held in the Etowah County Detention Center and was later released on bond.
