A man from McCalla has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting someone in the Pea Ridge community this weekend.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office first got a report of the shooting around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6. Officials say it happened in an area on the Cahaba River west of Shelby County Highway 10, commonly referred to as "Slab." A witness to the shooting drove the victim to Montevallo, the sheriff's office says.
Deputies, officers with Montevallo's city and university police departments, and Montevallo firefighters came to the victim's aid. The person shot was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and officials say he's expected to survive.
Sheriff's deputies found a person matching the description of the suspect in the area near where the alleged shooting happened. They arrested Adam Blake Dodson, a 33-year-old man from McCalla, and charged him with attempted murder. He was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Monday, Jan. 7 and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
