BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Jefferson County courthouse in downtown Birmingham has been given the all clear after being evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Birmingham police responded to the courthouse and did not find any threat. Everyone was evacuated from the building in about 10 minutes.

County commission president David Carrington said they received notice of a bomb threat sometime before 8:45 a.m. He said they believe it came into County Manager Tony Petelos' office.

Carrington said he is disappointed that someone thinks this is a joke "because we take things like this and safety very seriously."

People are now going back into the building to continue business as usual.
