What a difference a few seconds on television can make in a person's life.
Katherine Webb, graduate of Northside High School in Columbus, Auburn alum and Miss Alabama USA, was highlighted by ESPN announcers during the BCS Championship game Monday and became an overnight sensation.
Webb has taken over Twitter the past three days ever since some interesting comments were made about her during the big game.
Miss Alabama USA was there cheering on her boyfriend, Alabama starting quarterback, AJ McCarron.
ESPN later apologized for the comments made, but that didn't stop Webb's instant rise to fame.
In an interview with NBC's The Today Show, Webb explained that she is flattered by all the attention, but wants the spotlight back on Alabama football.
"I'm honestly really shocked, it really took off like that and you know I think that we need to draw back our attention on who the real winners are and that's the Alabama Football team," says Webb.
Webb graduated from Northside High School in 2007 and went on to attend Auburn University, graduating in May 2011 with a degree in Business Management and Administration.
Webb is a perfect example of beauty and brains, and classmates at AU could not be happier for her.
"I think it's pretty neat to see an Auburn graduate accomplishing so much in such a little amount of time and then being able to upstage her national championship boyfriend at the game is pretty cool," explains AU student, Anna Craig.
Webb appeared in our studios last year talking about her new title of Miss Alabama USA and what she wanted to accomplish during her reign.
"Just to give them like a deeper glimpse into the life of a state title holder," says Webb
Is this Katherine's 15 minutes of fame? Or will she right this wave of notoriety into her next accomplishment? Either way it has been quite this 72 hours for this Auburn grad.
