Dougherty girls beginning to heat up

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It's one of those teams that just never gave up or let up on the basketball court, the Dougherty Lady Trojans always with their feet on the gas whether being up big or down big.  Dougherty has now won 3 straight, including Friday's big win at Westover and then a blowout win over Albany at the Civic Center on Saturday.

The Lady Trojans are now 8-5 overall on the season, 4-2 in region 1-AAAA. That's good for third place with still a lot of basketball still left to play. Charlene Jackson's teams are well known for their toughness and now hoping its that same toughness that will turn its current 3 game streak into much more.

Coach Jackson said "That's been one of the biggest things that we have appreciated about our team is the fact that they have never quit. I don't care who we are playing. They play hard. They give us their all and our numbers are small on the varsity. We are trying to move some of the younger girls up when they feel like they are ready and they want to commit themselves to moving up but with the small numbers that we have, these girls are playing hard every single game and you can't ask for anything more than that."

The Lady Trojans head on the road to Americus Sumter on Tuesday.
