PELHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The FBI has confirmed that a bank robbery in Pelham is linked to a series of bank robberies in the greater Birmingham area.
FBI spokesperson Paul Daymond says Jimmy Dawson Cunningham, Jr., 39, is suspected of robbing the Union State Bank in Pelham this morning. Cunningham is also connected to bank robberies in Mountain Brook, Cullman, Cahaba Heights and Crestline.
The Pelham bank robbery happened around 10:14 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14. Cunningham is described as a white male, 6'2", weighing 190 pounds. The FBI says he is either bald or has a shaved head, and has a sunshine tattoo on his left ear. Today he was reportedly wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with a brown shirt underneath, white tennis shoes and a brownish-gray cap.
The FBI says Cunningham passed a note demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Pelham police said that a weapon was "implied but not presented" during the robbery. The Union State Bank is located near U.S. 31 and U.S. 119 in Pelham.
